The Idaho Review: Market Spotlight
Founded in 1998, The Idaho Review is produced with the help of an MFA Graduate Assistant from Boise State’s MFA Program and editor Mitch Wieland’s publishing and editing graduate class. Past fiction contributors have included Ann Beattie, Joy Williams, Anthony Doerr, Edith Pearlman, and John McNally.

The editors say, “Our mission is to publish strong, evocative work that belongs to the collective, vast community of writers. As we move forward we intend to broaden our reach. We hope to include writers of different identities—in terms of race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, ability, language, religion, class, age, education, and region—so that our journal is a representation of the voices present in today’s literary community.”
Their current open reading period ends March 15, 2022.
What They’re Looking For
The Idaho Review seeks polished writing in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction.
The editors say, “Please indicate your genre in your cover letter, and upload your piece to our online submission manager.”
Simultaneous submissions are fine, but writers should contact the editors if their work is accepted elsewhere.
How to Submit
Potential writers can submit their work via post to Idaho Review, Boise State University, 1910 University Drive, Boise ID 83725, or on their Submittable page. There is a $3 charge for Submittable submissions.
