The Starbucks ‘Green Apron’ Drop Celebrates 50+ Years of Baristas

For over 50 years, Starbucks’ dedicated baristas have consistently delivered unparalleled service and customer satisfaction to every individual who steps foot inside their stores. This remarkable journey commenced in 1971 when the company opened its inaugural store in the iconic Pike Place Market of Seattle. Now, after years of building a profound legacy, Starbucks proudly presents its latest NFT collection, aptly named “The Green Apron,” which pays homage to its storied history.

“The Green Apron”

As part of its Web3 loyalty and rewards program Starbucks Odyssey, the global coffee chain is preparing to launch its eighth NFT collection – “Green Apron” – on Nifty Gateway on August 1

The limited-edition collection comprises 5,000 NFTs that is a testament to Starbucks’s rich history – from the “original Pike Place apron to the Siren apron you see today” – and its recognition of its baristas who have served throughout the past 50+ years.

Each stamp will be available at a fixed price of $100.00, beginning with early access to Odyssey members and employees on August 1 at 12:00pm EST.

However, only members who have completed three or more Odyssey Journeys by July 28 or who are Starbucks partners will receive early access to the collection. Public access begins at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Similar to its previous drops, the NFTs will be minted on Polygon’s PoS sidechain and continue selling through Nifty Gateway.

Previous drops

Starbucks first entered the NFT marketplace in December 2022, listing a free Holiday Cheer Edition NFT for early Odyssey users, featuring its iconic red and white Christmas coffee cup.

Back in March, the coffeehouse debuted its Siren Collection as its first “premium” NFT, comprising 2,000 digital collectibles that each had a unique rendering of a siren with its roots in Greek mythology. Its second NFT collection, First Store Collection, dropped in April, comprising 5,000 NFT “stamp” collectibles that were also offered at a fixed price of $100.

The company’s newest coffee, Starbucks Green Apron Blend, launched in early May and differs from other in-store coffee products because it was created by Starbucks employees with nearly 24,000 submissions that helped shape the currently offered blend’s flavor and roast profiles.

For a limited time, Starbucks donated $0.10 per each brewed cup of Green Apron to its CUP Fund, an emergency resource started 25 years ago by employees for employees to help in times of need, such as a family emergency or after a natural disaster.
