It’s Time to Talk About the Baseless BAYC Nazi Claims
On October 2, 1984, author and media theorist Neil Postman gave the keynote address at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In that address, Postman presented an essay entitled “Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Showbusiness.” During his talk, he surprised the crowd by saying he thought the fair’s theme, which was focused on George Orwell, was a mistake. Of the two defining dystopian novels of the 20th century, Postman argued that Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World got it right, not Orwell’s 1984. “Orwell missed the mark completely,” he explained in a statement that remains, for some, as startling […]
Talks This Week May Decide the Future of NFTs in the EU
European Union (EU) negotiators are meeting this week in an attempt to finalize a broad range of rules related to crypto and NFTs. Specifically, the new regulations are aimed at combatting money laundering and could establish an authorization regime for crypto service providers. The documents were prepared by France, CoinDesk reports. Notably, these rules could force people who create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to centralize and register with governments. According to the documents, this means that an NFT creator would need to be “a legal person rather than a decentralized entity.” As a result, they would have to register their information […]

People Are Really Mad at Keanu Reeves for Using NFTs for Charity
For anyone born in the 1980s or later, Keanu Reeves has existed in the cultural zeitgeist for their entire lives. Reeves kicked off his string of cult-classic films with 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, which preceded an entire decade’s worth of beloved cultural artifacts. It culminated, of course, in the launch of The Matrix film franchise in 1999. In recent years, he’s been in John Wick and Cyberpunk 2077, the latter of which birthed this now iconic clip. To call Keanu Reeves a public treasure would probably be an understatement. However, with Reeves’ latest venture, some have decided to […]
