The Best NFT Market Crash Memes

Comments are off for this post.
The NFT market is currently loaded with 3Ms: money, media attention, and memes. Well, maybe not so much of that first one at the moment. The NFT ecosystem is a lot like the stock market. It has ups, and it has downs. Sadly, we are currently in the midst of a bit of a down — which is why it’s always important to never invest more than you can afford to lose. But there is a bright side. When money goes down, the memes go up.  When news related to a dip in NFT sales starts circulating, the internet becomes […]

The NFT Space Needs to Do More to Uplift Black Artists

It’s no secret that white men make up the majority of crypto communities — after all, the “crypto bro” stereotype has been around for years. As of 2022, upwards of 70 percent of the world’s cryptocurrency accounts are held by men, with 62 percent of that total being white men, according to a report from Morning Consult. Considering the crypto sphere gave birth to the NFT ecosystem, it’s easy to understand how this demographic has ultimately trickled over to our new blockchain-based creative economy. Anthony Gibbs, founder of The Black Arts Project, noted these systemic issues with representation in the […]

Instagram is finally breaking into the weird wide world of NFTs. Meta originally announced plans to create an Instagram NFT marketplace back in March of 2022. Unsurprisingly, this led to months of speculation. Now, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed today (May 9) that the beloved social media platform will finally begin testing NFTs on Instagram this week. In a video posted to Zuckerberg’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, the social media patriarch is seen talking with entrepreneur and prominent NFT influencer Tom Bilyeu about “digital collectibles” coming to Instagram. “This week we’re starting to test digital collectibles on Instagram so creators and collectors […]

With NFTs Any Type of IP Can Be Monetized

The NFT ecosystem has come a long way in the last two years. From being a niche internet microcosm to becoming a multi-billion-dollar industry, if one thing has become clear recently, it’s that NFTs are going to have a major impact on society for at least the next few years. Just as the market has changed since Beeple made international headlines with his $69 million Christie’s auction, so too have the diverse ways that NFTs are being used to monetize intellectual property (IP). Although digital art has always been at the core of the NFT space, music, sports memorabilia, and […]

TikTok Meets NFTs? What User-Generated Content Might Look Like in Web3

We were all sufficiently surprised back in Sept. 2021 when TikTok announced the release of its very own NFT project. While the endeavor seemed to crash and burn only a few months later, short-form content (like Vines and TikToks) is starting to become a hot topic in Web3. Of course, this is almost surely due to the fact that during a global pandemic, digestible content became king. So much so that ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company reported a 45 percent increase in growth only about a year after COVID-19 forced the world indoors. Now it seems user-generated content (UGC) is on […]

In just over a year, NFTs have absolutely exploded. No, seriously. NFTs are everywhere in 2022. From taking over Super Bowl LVI and making their way into March Madness to helping define this year’s Coachella and stealing the spotlight at SXSW, nonfungible tokens have continued to dominate pup culture. Yet, beyond public appearances and million-dollar sale headlines, the growth of the NFT ecosystem itself might be the most jaw-dropping aspect of this whole “NFT craze.” Despite the fact that NFT sales have dipped significantly from their landmark high at the start of 2022 when we zoom out on the bigger picture, it’s clear that […]

With robust support from NFT collectors, investors, and trading card enthusiasts alike, the significance of NBA Top Shot can’t be overstated. The project helped drive mainstream awareness for blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as few things could. For any doubters out there, the numbers largely speak for themselves. In 2021 alone, the virtual platform had more than 1.1 million registered users who traded some $800 million in NFTs. As a result, it’s impossible to discuss the rise of NFTs without devoting a large part of the conversation to NBA Top Shot. The joint venture between the National Basketball Association (NBA) […]
